Bolt Knobs

A bolt knob is one of the simplest upgrades you can make, and one you feel on every shot. A better grip means faster, more consistent cycling without breaking position. We machine our own Pete's Pillars billet aluminum knobs for the CZ 455 and 457 in the USA, and as an authorized dealer for DIP, Area 419 and ZP Machining, we carry more options for the CZ, Bergara and Tikka T1x.

The Small Change You Feel Every Shot

A bolt knob is the part your hand meets on every cycle. Ours are machined from billet aluminum for the CZ 455 and 457, with the grip, profile and texture to run the bolt fast without breaking position. Small change. Big impact.

Choosing a Bolt Knob

Thread-on knob or replacement handle

Some bolt handles are threaded to accept a new knob, like the CZ 455 and 457. Others, like the Tikka T1x, use a replacement bolt handle instead. Each listing notes how it mounts.

Profile and size

A slim knob stays low and out of the way for field carry. A larger or finger groove knob gives more to grab for fast cycling from the bench or barricade, like our Pete's Pillars Finger Groove XL.

Texture

Knurled and helix textures bite into gloves and sweaty hands. Smooth and grooved finishes feel cleaner in the palm. Our CZ knob lineup covers both.

Check clearance

A bigger knob can contact a large scope eyepiece or the stock on lift. Check clearance on your rifle, and pair the knob with the right scope rings if you need more room.

Bolt Knob FAQ

Will a new bolt knob fit my factory bolt?

Thread-on knobs fit bolt handles that are threaded for them, and replacement bolt handles are made for specific rifles. Match the knob to your rifle model in the listing before ordering.

Do I need tools to install a bolt knob?

Thread-on knobs usually install by hand or with basic tools, and some benefit from a drop of thread locker. Replacement bolt handles install with the included hardware. Follow the instructions included with each knob.

Will a larger knob hit my scope?

It can, depending on your scope, ring height and stock. Cycle the bolt fully with the scope mounted to check clearance before you head to the range.

Are Pete's Pillars bolt knobs made in the USA?

Yes. Our CZ 455 and 457 bolt knobs are designed and machined in the USA from billet aluminum.
