PETE'S PILLARS | USA-MADE ORYX CHASSIS UPGRADES
More Rear Weight. Two QD Mounts. One Clean Upgrade.
The Pete's Pillars Rear Buttstock Weight replaces the MDT Oryx's factory polymer rear component with machined aluminum. At approximately 7.3 oz, it adds useful mass where the chassis is light, puts a QD sling cup on each side, and keeps the bottom M-LOK mounting slot available. Designed and made in the USA for shooters who want more from the Oryx they already own.
The Oryx is an excellent foundation for a practical rifle, but its factory rear piece is lightweight polymer, and sling placement can compete with the accessory space underneath. Our replacement addresses both without changing the familiar chassis layout. Use it for: PRS-style positional shooting, NRL22, benchrest setup, field carry and Oryx builds that need a little more weight behind the action.
Put the Weight Where You Need It.
The factory polymer rear component weighs approximately 1.9 oz. Our machined aluminum replacement weighs approximately 7.3 oz, a net increase of around 5.4 oz. That puts meaningful weight toward the rear of the rifle instead of adding more to the forend. If your Oryx feels front-heavy with a longer barrel, optic, bipod or other accessories, it's one more way to tune the way the rifle balances and settles on a support.
Sling Ready. M-LOK Still Open.
Integrated left- and right-side QD sling cups give you a sling connection on either side of the buttstock. More importantly, you no longer need to occupy the bottom mounting position just to attach a sling. The bottom M-LOK slot stays usable for a rear bag rider or another compatible accessory. The aluminum construction also gives that rear mounting area a more substantial foundation than the original polymer piece, while retaining compatibility with the Oryx's factory accessories.
Pair It With
A balanced Oryx works best when you can choose where the rest of the weight and support hardware goes.
Finish the Look with Custom Cerakote Oryx Panels.
Weight and sling mounting change how your Oryx handles. The removable exterior panels change how it looks. Pete's Pillars offers custom Cerakote-finished MDT Oryx replacement panel sets, so you can refresh the forend and buttstock panels without replacing the chassis itself. Pair the rear weight with a finish that makes the whole build your own.
These are exterior replacement panel sets, distinct from the M-LOK-equipped forend side panels above. Choose the look or the additional accessory mounting positions that matter most for your build.

Frequently Asked Questions
Fitment, weight, QD sling mounting and building out your Oryx chassis.
Will this fit my MDT Oryx chassis?
It's designed specifically for the MDT Oryx chassis, replacing the factory polymer rear component. Our parts fit most Oryx chassis. We machine to very tight tolerances, so every now and then a production rifle with factory tolerance stack-up falls a little outside that range.
How much weight does it add?
The replacement part weighs about 7.3 oz, compared with about 1.9 oz for the original polymer component. That's approximately 5.4 oz of additional rear weight.
Does it have QD sling cups on both sides?
Yes. There is an integrated QD sling cup on each side of the rear component, so you can choose left- or right-side sling placement.
Can I still use the bottom M-LOK slot?
Yes. The bottom M-LOK mounting slot remains available for a compatible bag rider or other accessory. Your sling can use a side QD cup instead.
Will it work with my original MDT Oryx accessories?
The replacement is designed to maintain compatibility with the standard Oryx accessory layout. The lower M-LOK position remains usable, so you can keep the accessory options you already like.
Is a QD sling swivel included?
Your Choice: Add a compatible QD sling swivel (sold separately). The machined part includes the integrated left- and right-side QD sling cups.
What should I add to balance or finish my Oryx build?
Start with our PPFL-ARC Full-Length ARCA Rail for bipod and tripod positioning. For more front-end weight, our PPFWS M-LOK Weights pair with compatible M-LOK mounting positions, including the MDT Oryx M-LOK Side Panels. To finish the look, our custom Cerakote Oryx replacement panels let you change the exterior in finishes like M81 Woodland, Arctic Camo or War Torn Bronze.
