CZ 457 Profiled Pillar Bedding Kit – PPCD-457R
The Pete's Pillars PPCD-457R is a profiled aluminum pillar bedding kit designed specifically for the CZ 457.
CNC-machined from 6061 aluminum, these pillars provide a rigid interface between the action and stock, helping prevent stock compression and maintain consistent action support when the rifle is assembled and torqued.
The pillars are intentionally supplied long so they can be fitted to the individual stock during installation.
Designed Specifically for the CZ 457
These are not generic straight bedding pillars.
The PPCD-457R uses CZ 457-specific profiling to accommodate the geometry of the action and stock interface. The exterior profile also provides additional surface area for a strong bond within the bedding material.
This kit is intended for CZ 457 stocks that do not already use suitable factory pillars, as well as compatible aftermarket stocks being prepared for pillar bedding.
Why Pillar Bed a CZ 457?
Traditional wood and composite stocks can compress around the action screws as the rifle is repeatedly assembled and torqued.
Properly fitted aluminum pillars create a solid structure around the action screws, helping reduce stock compression and providing a more consistent interface between the action and stock.
That consistency is the primary reason pillar bedding is commonly used on precision-oriented rifle builds.
CNC-Machined 6061 Aluminum
Each pillar is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum for consistent dimensions and a rigid bedding surface.
The standard PPCD-457R pillars measure approximately .4995" outside diameter, making them essentially a 1/2" bedding pillar while allowing appropriate installation clearance.
For narrower sporting stocks where a full 1/2" pillar may not be appropriate, Pete's Pillars also offers a smaller-diameter CZ 457 SlimLine pillar option.
Supplied Long for Final Stock Fit
The pillars are intentionally left longer than the final installed dimension.
This allows the installer to fit the pillar height to the individual stock rather than relying on a universal fixed length. Stock dimensions vary between factory and aftermarket designs, so final fitting is part of the bedding process.
A threaded rod is included with the kit to assist during fitting and installation.
DIY Bedding Component
The PPCD-457R is intended for shooters and gunsmiths performing a custom pillar bedding installation.
Installation requires modification of the stock, bedding compound, and final fitting of the pillars. This is not a drop-in component.
If you are not comfortable performing stock bedding or fitting work, installation by an experienced gunsmith is recommended.
Standard vs. SlimLine CZ 457 Pillars
The PPCD-457R uses our standard approximately 1/2" diameter pillar design and is a good choice where the stock has sufficient material around the action screw locations.
For narrower sporting-style stocks, consider our
CZ 457 SlimLine Profiled Pillars.
The SlimLine version uses a smaller 7/16" outside diameter for applications where additional stock material needs to be retained.
