Custom Arctic Camo Cerakote Finish
Arctic Camo brings a distinctive winter-inspired camouflage pattern to the MDT Oryx, pairing contrasting camouflage tones with the chassis's original black structural components and hardware.
This custom Cerakote finish is offered by Pete's Pillars and applied to the exterior panels, preserving MDT's original chassis geometry, ergonomics, and accessory compatibility.
Unlike standard MDT factory colors, Arctic Camo offers a distinctive appearance for shooters looking for something beyond traditional Black, Flat Dark Earth, or Olive Drab Green.
Each camouflage application is individually finished, so minor variations in pattern placement and color may occur.
Precision Aluminum Chassis & V-Block Bedding
The foundation of the MDT Oryx is its precision-machined aluminum chassis with integrated V-block bedding.
The rigid aluminum bedding interface supports consistent action positioning without requiring traditional glass bedding, while the free-floating forend minimizes unwanted barrel contact.
Unlike many conventional factory stocks, the Oryx provides a substantial structural foundation that resists flex during supported shooting.
With clearance for barrels up to 1.25 inches in diameter, the chassis accommodates a wide selection of Howa 1500 factory and aftermarket barrel profiles.
Adjustable Buttstock & Ergonomics
The Oryx features an adjustable cheek riser and length-of-pull system, allowing shooters to establish a comfortable, repeatable position behind their optic.
Compatibility with AR-15-style pistol grips provides additional flexibility in grip shape and hand positioning.
For convenient cheekpiece adjustments, the MDT Oryx Tool-Less Cheek Riser Wheels provide a practical upgrade to the factory adjustment hardware.
M-LOK Forend & ARCA Compatibility
The Oryx incorporates M-LOK mounting provisions along the underside of the forend, providing an attachment interface for compatible bipods, accessory rails, and additional shooting equipment.
An integrated barricade stop provides a consistent contact point during supported shooting.
The chassis also supports optional full-length ARCA rails, replacement M-LOK side panels, modular weights, and additional sling attachment options.
The Pete's Pillars Full-Length Oryx ARCA Rail adds a continuous ARCA mounting surface with two integrated QD sling cups.
Howa 1500 Short Action Compatibility
This configuration is designed specifically for right-handed Howa 1500 Short Action rifles, including compatible factory rifles and barreled actions.
The chassis accepts compatible AICS-pattern short-action detachable magazines, supporting appropriately configured cartridges such as .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor.
MDT polymer AICS magazines are recommended for the Howa 1500 platform. Some metal AICS magazines may require fitting due to differences in the magazine and receiver interface.
The Howa Mini Action and Howa Long Action require their own dedicated chassis inlets and are not interchangeable with this Short Action configuration.
