The Pete's Pillars CZ 457 SlimLine Pillar Set is designed for CZ 457 stocks where a standard 1/2" bedding pillar leaves less surrounding stock material than desired.
CNC-machined from 6061 aluminum, the SlimLine pillars use a narrower 7/16" outside diameter while retaining the strength and rigidity needed for a properly pillar-bedded CZ 457 action.
They are especially useful for narrower sporting stocks, lightweight builds, and other applications where conserving material around the action screw locations is important.
These are not generic straight aluminum spacers.
The pillars are profiled around the geometry of the CZ 457 action and stock interface, giving the installer a purpose-built foundation for a custom bedding job.
The shaped exterior also provides additional surface area for bedding compound compared with a simple smooth cylindrical spacer.
The defining feature of the SlimLine version is its approximately 7/16" outside diameter.
This narrower profile allows more stock material to remain around the pillar, which can be particularly useful in slimmer factory sporting stocks or other stocks with limited material surrounding the action screw holes.
For stocks with more available material, our standard CZ 457 pillar kit uses a larger approximately 1/2" outside diameter.
Each pillar is machined from 6061 aluminum for a rigid and consistent bedding surface.
Unlike wood or polymer surrounding the action screw, aluminum does not compress significantly as the action screws are tightened and loosened during normal rifle service.
That makes the pillar a solid mechanical stop between the action and bottom of the stock.
Pillar bedding creates a rigid structure around the action screws so the action is not relying solely on the stock material to maintain its position.
In wood, laminate, and some composite stocks, repeated tightening of the action screws can gradually compress the material around the screw locations.
Properly installed aluminum pillars help reduce that compression and provide a more repeatable relationship between the action, stock, and action screws.
For precision-oriented CZ 457 builds, that consistency is the primary benefit of pillar bedding.
The SlimLine pillars are supplied approximately 1.25" long so the installer can fit them to the individual stock.
CZ 457 stocks vary in thickness and internal geometry, so a universal finished pillar height would not be appropriate for every installation.
The installer trims and fits each pillar during the bedding process to establish the correct final relationship between the action and stock.
The SlimLine design is particularly useful where conserving stock material is important.
A conventional 1/2" bedding pillar requires a larger hole through the stock. Reducing the pillar diameter to approximately 7/16" leaves additional material surrounding the bedding area while still providing an aluminum support structure around the action screw.
That makes the SlimLine version a strong choice for CZ 457 sporting stocks, lightweight stocks, and other applications where the standard-diameter pillar may be larger than necessary.
Pete's Pillars offers two primary profiled pillar sizes for the CZ 457.
The correct choice depends primarily on the dimensions and construction of the stock being bedded.
These pillars are intended for shooters, rifle builders, and gunsmiths performing a custom pillar bedding installation.
Installation requires drilling or machining the stock, fitting the pillars to the proper height, and securing them with an appropriate bedding compound.
They are intentionally not supplied as a drop-in component because proper pillar length depends on the individual stock.
If you are not comfortable modifying or bedding a rifle stock, professional installation is recommended.
These are custom-fit bedding components and are not a drop-in replacement part. Proper installation requires fitting the pillars to the individual stock.
